NEW DURHAM, NEW HAMPSHIRE VITAL RECORDS:

Joseph Gilman and Betsey Boody both of New Durham married December 12th 1793.

Joseph and his brothers were early settlers in Walden, Vermont. Around 1804 he purchased property in Craftsbury's Mill Village, where he built a house and operated a mill. His father, Edward Gilman, (abt. 1734 - Dec 1799) had purchased and operated for 30 years the proprietor's mill in Gilmanton, but joined his sons in Walden when he became blind late in life.

Joseph Gilman's brothers who bought property in Walden in the 1790s and later moved on were David, Edward, Noah, Timothy, and Samuel.
