SEMI-WEEKLY INTERIOR JOURNAL, STANFORD, KY., TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 1900 -- Page 1
McKITTRICK - Friends of the estimable lady will grieve to learn of the death of Mrs. Wallace W. McKittrick at Clark's Hill, Ind., August 23d, from the effects of a surgical operation. The News contains a touching obituary of her with the following sketch of her life: Martha Ellis McKittrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Marcum, was born in Pulaski county, Ky., May 12, 1870. In 1883 her parents moved to Lincoln county, that State. Here Mattie grew to womanhood and on Nov. 27, 1894, was married to Wallace W. McKittrick. They resided there until February of this year, when they moved to this vicinity. She was a little past 30 years of age. The remains were interred in the Union cemetery. Father and mother, loving brothers and sisters, the devoted husband whose life was wrapped in hers, kind friends and neighbors, who watched with bated breath at the bedside of Mattie McKittrick, alternating between hope and fear, as they saw her bright, young life slowly ebbing away, now fully realize that all is over and that in the midst of life, we are in death. In the presence of the family and friends her soul passed silently and swiftly across the dark river to the beautiful shore on the other side. There Mattie waits to welcome her loved ones home.
