Charles A. Hancock, 79, Greenfield, died Monday at home. Born Jan 4, 1914, in Hancock County, he was the son of Claude Archibald and Minnie Ostermeier Hancock. Mr. Hancock was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church; cumberland Lodge 726 F & AM; Scottish Rite, Indianpolis; and Murat Shrine, Indianapolis. Survivors inclue wife Wilma (Sparks) Hancock; sons Claude Sidney Hancock, Charles Steven Hancock, and Carl Stanley Hancock, all of Greenfield; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Gladys Shumway in 1988 and Irene Sinnett in 1965. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hendryx Mortuaries Cumberland Chapel with the Rev. Mark Suter officating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
