Prova James Amburgey, age 68 of Waldo passed away on November 12, 2011 at E T York Haven Hospice Care Center in Gainesville.

He came to Gainesville in 1966 and worked in the dry cleaning business. In 1976 he moved to Lynchburg, VA to attend Liberty Baptist College and in 1983 he was commissioned an officer/minister in The Salvation Army. He retired due to poor health in 2006 and moved back to Alachua County. He was active with Child Evangelism.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Adams Amburgey, three children, James Rodney (Brandy) Amburgey of Sultan, WA, Jarod Benton "Jay" (Kelly) Amburgey of Keystone Heights, FL and Dana Sloan (Tom) Polk of Albany, Ga., one brother, Jerry W. (Evalea) Amburgey and one sister, Patricia (Jim) Adams, both of Gainesville and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Prova and Mabel Amburgey.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Countryside Baptist Church building fund, 10926 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, Fl 32606 or Child Evangelism of North Central Florida.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at Countryside Baptist Church with Pastors Bill and Gene Keith officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow services at Countryside Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Moring Funeral Home, Melrose, FL.
