Louis Clifford Armstead of Carmel died in Hospice House, Monterey, on July 21, 2004, after a long life and a brief illness. He was born in Uehling, NE, on August 12, 1911, the older of two children. He [was] survived by his wife, Florence Armstead, of Carmel; his sister, Charlotte Vail, of Satellite Beach, FL; and his three sons: [Living] He leaves eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and family, and will be remembered for his gentleness, his kindness and generosity, his probity, his love for his family, and his warm humor. He and Florence celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary on May 21 of this year, surrounded by family. He loved classical music, and he was a poet at heart. He was part owner of a factory in Lincoln, NE, in which he worked until his retirement in 1976. Relatives and friends of the family are cordially invited to a memorial service at Church-of-the-Oaks in Del Rey Oaks, 2pm, Wednesday, July 28, to celebrate his life. The family suggests donations to Hospice House, PO Box HH, Monterey, 93942.
