"SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. N. W. DRANE"
"In her seventh-eigh(sic) year and apparantly in excellent health until almost the very hour of her death, Mrs. N. W. Drane, passed quietly away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. Marshall, at 1333 23rd avenue. Mrs. Drane died about 5 o'clock. She had been in her usual good health and about 2 o'clock called her daughter on the phone about some household matters. Nearly two hours later Mrs. Drane's granddaughter called Mrs. Marshall and told her to come home that Mrs. Drane was sick. She had been attacked with paralysis and died within less than an hour. Mrs. Drane had lived the greater part of her life in St. Tammany parish, La., but for some time had been in Gulfport with her daughter. She was a remarkably bright and cheery old lady and to the day of her death retained all her faculties. This was clearly evidenced by an incident of hardly more than a few days ago when Mrs. Drane attended a spelling bee gotten up by a local society and received first prize in the contest. Besides Mrs. Marshal, Mrs. Drane leaves another daughter, Mrs. William Wetmore of Ponchatoula, La. The funeral took place at 3 o'clock this afternoon from St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the services being conducted by Rev. H. H. Sneed. The interment was in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Drane was a member of Coast Chapter No. 51, Order of the Eastern Star, which is located in this city and the organization took part in the funeral, prominent Masons acting as pallbearers."
