According to his obituary in The Atlanta Journal & Constitution, Mr. Falkner served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, then worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 36 years until his retirement in 1989.

His first wife was Meryle June (Washington) Falkner (d. 1989.) In 1992 he married Arlette Thomas Posey. He was the father of LaJuana Jean (Falkner) Fiester, Janice (Falkner) Grant, Scott Posey, and Justin Posey.

At the time of his death he had 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was survived by a brother (Earnest "Pete" Falkner) and two sisters (Marie (Falkner) Owen and Ellen Falkner.
