OBITUARY OF CLEM HEMMER
The entire community was saddened Friday by the death of Clem Hemmer who passed away at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Mitchell on May 12. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Catholic church in Aurora, Rev. Fr. Lennon officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood cemetery at Brookings.
Clement Hemmer was the second child of Frank and Elizabeth Hemmer and was born May 28th 1864 in Waterloo, Iowa. When he was 9 years old he moved with his family to Buena Vista, Iowa. On February 25th 1889, he was married to Sarah Hilton of Jesup, Iowa, to which union five children were born.
In 1911 Mr. Hemmer with his family moved to South Dakota settling on a farm two miles North of Aurora, where they have since made their home. The deceased is survived by his wife and the five children-Elsie, Francis, Matthew, Earl, and Mrs. Marie Coon; and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Maggie Goles, White Lake S.D Mrs. Connie Renland, Estherville, Iowa Frank Hemmer White Lake S.D two brothers, Peter and John preceded him in death.
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr and Mrs. Otto Litchenberg, Alta Iowa Mr and Mrs Frank Hemmer White Lakes S.D Mrs. Maggie Gales and sons, Frank and Al, Mathias Gales, sons WIlliam, Bert and Lawrence, Mr and Mrs Frank Franden, all of White Lakes S.D Mr and Mrs O. Lenland, Estherville, Iowa
Mr. Hemmer had a host of friends in Aurora and vicinity, all of whom will mourn the loss of this good neighbor and friend, who was always eager to assist others in time of distress. He had been a patient sufferer from anemia for the last few years. His son Matt and son in law O.L Coon were constantly at his bedside ministering to him up to the time of his death.
Sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in their great loss.

We wish to extend sincere thanks to our neighbors , friends and relatives for their many acts of kindness and sympathy; also for the beautiful floral offerings, spiritual flowers and food showers during the illness and death of our beloved husband and father.
