Charles "Boyd" Black, 80, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast in Concord.

Mr. Black was born November 8, 1930 in Cabarrus County to the late Charlie Samuel Black and Hessie Ellen Tucker Black. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Black Benton.

Mr. Black was a veteran of the Army 87th Airborne Division. He retired from the Henry Walke Company and was a life long member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Midland.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 in the sanctuary of Bethel United Methodist Church of Midland. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Mark Clontz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jerry Brown, Ed Black, Rayford McAnulty, Jim Eudy, Harry Campbell, and Ervin Hartsell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Phillips, Lewis Helms, Rev. Don Lisk, James Barrett, and Jim Kelly.

Survivors include his girlfriend, June Flowe, of Midland; and his brother, J. Wade Black and his wife, Joyce, of Concord.

Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107.
