Reverend Father Edward Dunphy was the son of John Dunphy and Ann Cody Dunphy and was born in Haydenville, Massachusetts. He attended St. Laurent College in Canada and graduated in 1893. He later studied Theology in Montreal at Grand Seminary. He was ordained a priest on August 18, 1896 in Conneticut.
Msgr. Edward Dunphy was the pastor-emeritus of St. Francis Church in North Adams. He died in his family home. A high mass was said with many Priests and parishioners present. A police escort took place to the cemetery.
