Killed in a tragic accident in Texas.

FRISCO, Texas — Ian Michael Welton, 13, of McKinney, Texas, passed away as the result of a tragic accident on Oct. 2 in Frisco, Texas.

Ian was born on Oct. 31, 1997, at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota, to Brandon Cain and Rebecca Lorraine (Kennett) Welton.

He was a true musician with perfect pitch and exceptional talent. He attended Sam and Ann Roach Middle School and was a member of the Symphonic Band where he played the French Horn and the Symphonic Orchestra where he was 1st Chair Viola.

Ian was a volunteer Junior Counselor for the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsman Club summer program. He was a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Ian was an avid gamer, loved World of Warcraft along with many other console based games.

Ian brightened up the world with his genuine heartfelt smiles and love.

Ian is survived by his mom and step-dad, Rebecca and Paul Bisson of McKinney, Texas; Dad and step-mom, Brandon and Müge Welton of San Angelo, Texas; sister, Brianna Welton of McKinney, Texas; step-sisters, Alyssa Bisson of College Station, Texas, Caitlin Palmer and her husband, Brad of San Antonio, Texas; grandparents, Brad "Pal" and Leona Kennett of Rangeley, Maine, Leo Libby of Rangeley, Maine; aunts and uncles, Brad Kennett, Jr. and wife, Lindsay of Rangeley, Maine, Jennifer Butler and husband, Derek of Denver, Colorado, Sean Welton and wife, Erica of Rangeley, Maine and his cousins, Elyse Kennett and Dallas Welton.

Ian is preceded in death by his grandmother, Ann Libby.

WELTON — Ian M., 13, of McKinney, Texas and Rangeley, Maine died at Frisco, Texas, on Oct. 2. The family received friends at a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. A funeral mass was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco. Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Evergreen Cemetery, Rangeley, with the Rev. Paul Plante officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ian Welton Memorial Summer Music Camp Scholarship Fund and to the Rangeley Junior Guides Camp Scholarship. Giving envelopes will be available at the undercroft of The Church of The Good Shepherd, Main Street, Rangeley, where a reception will follow services. All are welcome. Local arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
