She was the owner of the Kelsey Art Gallery in Hot Springs, South Dakota. She was a graduate of Circleville High School, Circleville, West Virginia. She attained BA and MA degrees in art, literature, and educational psychology from BHSC at Spearfish, South Dakota. She was a well-known artist, a published author, and an instructor of creative writing and art for Mira Costa College, San Diego, California.
Survived by her children: Mark (Hilary) Anderson, Alan (Valarie Stone) Anderson, August Anderson, and Nola Kelsey; four grandchildren.
A celebration of her life took place on November 28, 2009 at the Kelsey Art Gallery in Hot Springs, South Dakota. A memorial service and internment in the North Fork Cemetery was conducted on May 29, 2010.
