U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1881 and commenced the practice of law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition, he was also president of the Washington, Potomac and Chesapeake Railway Company, director of the Langhorne Water Company and director of several banks. In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth Congress and to the next nine succeeding Congresses, serving until his death.
