Mrs. Susannah Elizabeth Mumford, beloved wife of Mr. Richard W. Mumford, residing about two miles south of Middletown, died at her residence last Sunday night, after a lingering illness from heart and stomach trouble, in the 65th year of her age. Mrs. Mumford was a kind neighbor and friend, and was widely known and loved by all who knew her. She was a daughter of the late Adam Main, of that valley. She was the mother of twelve children, seven of whom, with her husband, survive her. The surviving children are Mrs. Samuel Kauffman, of Shenandoah, Va., Mrs. Otho Greenwalt, of Boonsboro, Md., Mrs. Veniah Haupt, of Frostown, George W., of Liberty, Ohio, John W., of Braddock, this county, and Miss Fannie and Charles, living at home. She also leaves 25 grand children. Mrs. Mumford united with the M. E. Church when quite young, and continued to be a consistent member of the same up to the time of her death. For two years past she had been an invalid. Her funeral occurred on Wednesday morning. The services were held in the M. E. Church, of Middletown, and were conducted by Rev. G. W. Kiracofe, of the U. B. Church. Interment was in the M. E. cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. Jacob M. Huffer, George C. Huffer, Mathias S. Ahalt, Joshua D. Ahalt, George W. Bowlus and Millard F. Flook.
