Mattie Pearl Fain - 1934-2008

Mattie Pearl Fain, 74, of Ashland, wife of the late Ralph Roger Fain, went home to the Lord, Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 26, 1934, in Winchester, Ky., a daughter of the late Woodford and Thomas Booher Hughes. Mattie was a member of the First Christian Church of Ashland and was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by a brother, Raymond Hughes; and a sister-in-law, Jenny Stafford.

Surviving are three sons, Danny Payne of Tacoma, Wash., Jeff Jenkins of Ashland and Scott Jenkins and wife Dorene of Olive Hill, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Judy and husband Ron Coburn of Wurtland, Ky.; a special niece, Jill Phillips of Ashland; a special daughter at heart, Diane McKnight (Jim, Kristen, Jackson); a young man who touched Mattie's heart, T.J. and his mother, Shirley; and two granddaughters precious to her, Tiffany Allison Jenkins and Emily Elizabeth Jenkins.

Mattie will be missed by many school friends and others throughout her life. She was the most sweetest and gentle person who always had a smile for everyone.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Smedley. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
