Joe Majeres was born on Thursday, March 20, 1890, in Oyens, IA, the son of Frank and Mary (Hoffmann) Majeres.

On Tuesday, June 4, 1912, Joe married Clara Delperdang in Alton, IA.

Joe's father Frank was a native of Luxembourg. Frank and his wife Mary lived in LeMars, IA, for a short time before moving to a farm one mile north of Oyens.

Joe was a lifelong resident of the Oyens area. He grew up on the family farm. When he married Clara in 1912, his parents retired to Remsen, IA, and Joe and Clara ran the farm.

Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Oyens Columbus Club.

Joe and Clara had 1 son and 2 daughters: Cyril, Rita, and Rose Marie.

Clara died on March 6, 1944. Joe lived as a widower for the next 22½ years.

Joe, 76 years old, died on Saturday, October 29, 1966, at Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars, IA; he had been ill for about 3 weeks. Father Gerald Wingert said the 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Oyens St. Catherine's Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 2, and then Joe was buried beside his wife Clara at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Oyens. Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen was in charge of arrangements.
