Mamie Elizabeth Smith Hancock, 90, widow of Robert D. Hancock, died Friday, October 7, 2011 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Smith and the late Nell Caughman Smith.

She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in the Springhill community. She was the owner and operator of the Woodrow Grocery for many years.

Survivors include a son, Harvey 'Don' Hancock; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia B. Hancock; grandchildren, Lisa Young (Derrick) of Florence, Kerry Hancock (Leah) of Turbeville, Robert Hancock (Julie) of Wake Forest, NC, Korye McCutchen (Kirk) of Camden, and Wayne Hancock (Renee) of Bishopville; and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Christa, Dusty, Campbell, GiGi, Kody, Emme, Chloe, and Kaitlyn.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. 'Bobby' Hancock and a daughter-in-law, Marion Diann Hancock.
