OBITUARY Iron County Reporter Oct 4 2000 "Obituaries: Verne Andrews"
LAND O' LAKES, Wis. – Verne Andrews, 82, died Sept. 25 at the Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Home.
He was born July 16, 1918 in Iron River. He had been a resident of Land O' Lakes for 41 years. He was a musician in Chicago, Ill. He experimented with aircraft engines and airboats, owned and operated his own gold and silver mines, and was an avid trout fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed golf. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as an MP and worked in the Secret Service in Europe. He was a member of the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, Elks, Moose, Shriners, Masons and the Variety Club International.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia; a daughter Julie (Norm) Wegner of Rhinelander, Wis.; two sons, Miles (Jennifer) Andrews of Littleton, Colo. and Richard (Beth) Daly of South Bend, Ind.; a sister Margaret Zurek of Iron River; and six grandchildren.
Visitation and funeral services were held Sept. 28 at Land O' Lakes Bible Church with Pastor Larry Shetenhelm officiating.
Burial was in Land O' Lakes Bible Church Cemetery.
