Edna was the daughter of the Chief Justice Paul Farthing of the Illinois Supreme Court and Harriet Garrigues of Belleville.
Grace was a 1940 graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis and a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
In 1941, Grace married Lemuel Dean McKinley. Grace and Dean had the following children: Nancy Catherine, Margo Harriet, and Deanna.
During her lifetime, Grace was active in the Union United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Excelsior Club, and P.E.O.
Grace, aged 58, died at Memorial Hospital, Belleville.
In addition to her husband, Grace's obituary lists the following survivors: her mother, Mrs. Harriet Farthing; three daughters, Mrs. Jack Sandoval, Fairfield, Conn.; Mrs. Harold Measley, Wilmington, Del,; and Miss Deanna McKinley, at home; a sister Mrs. Sarah Mary Kanaga, Redlands. Calif; a brother, Attorney William Farthing, Belleville; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were at the Union United Methodist Church with burial in Green Mountain Protestant Cemetery. The Baldus-Radden Funeral Home, Belleville, was in charge of arrangements.
