Served in Co. D, 113th US Colored Troops Infantry. Enlisted; at the age of 26 on Apr. 21, 1864. Died from typhoid malarial fever.
He is also listed on the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington, DC, on plaque No. D-112. He was buried on June 5, 1865.

The 113th US Colored Troops Infantry (Old) was organized June 25, 1864, from the 6th Arkansas Colored Infantry. It was then consolidated with the 11th US Colored Troops Infantry (Old) and the 112th US Colored Troops Infantry to form the 113th US Colored Troops Infantry (New) on April 1, 1865.
