Jacob died on April 28, 1814, 32 days after the Battle of Horseshoe Bend on the Tallapoosa River, which was fought March 27th. He is believed to be buried at Fort Strothers, Alabama. A neighbor told of seeing him die, and closed his eyes.
After Jacob's death, Nancy remarried to William Walling.
This grave marker was erected in 1932 by R. P. Greer.
