Juan was the son of Mary Ann Castillo and Juan Garza Sr. He had wanted to grow up and be a Marine. He was in high school on Sept 11, 2001, when the twin towers were brought down. That solidified his resolve and when he finished school he became a Marine. He was killed while patroling in Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This gives his family two days to remember in sadness, the day he died and Sept 11 when his resolve was formed.
He is buried in Whiteford Union Cemetery, Lambertville, Monroe Co., Michigan, but this memorial is where his mother has erected a monument to him in her front yard.
A Michigan memorial for him is at FAG # 7343411.
