George Alexander Getty, 91, Johnstown, died Dec. 17, 2004, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born March 17, 1913, in Johnstown, son of the late Clarence H. and Margaret (Hileman) Getty. Preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Getty; and brothers, Charles, Dwight, Jerry, James and Dean Getty. Survived by wife, Marion (Reed) Getty, Johnstown; daughter, Georgia, wife of Richard D. Akers, Johnstown; sons, Douglass R. Getty, husband of Janet (Ray), Cincinnati; and Dr. Samuel F. Getty, husband of Ruth (Spafford), Harrisburg; grandchildren, Michelle, wife of Tony Gallo; and Nadine, wife of David Lindquest, all of Cincinnati; and Richard Akers and Alexander and Elizabeth Getty, all of Harrisburg; and great-grandchildren: Isaac Lindquest; Dominic Gallo; Alexander Gallo, all from Cincinnati. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Julie Getty, Johnstown, and Sally Getty, Ebensburg. A member of Belmont United Methodist Church. A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and California University, Pa. He taught in Harrisburg, Pa., city schools. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Belmont United Methodist Church. Entombment, Richland Mausoleum at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial gifts be made to Belmont United Methodist Church, 107 Coldren St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904 or Arbutus Manor, 207 Ottawa St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
