His given name was also spelled Purden C. and Pardon C. in his period military service record. Parden C. Fimple was enrolled by Captain William P. Calloway at Marysville, California, August 17 and was mustered-in as Private, Co. I, 1st California Infantry, by First Lieutenant John Kellogg August 26, 1861. At enlistment he was described as age 26 years, that he was born at Delaware County, Indiana, and that his occupation was Laborer. Rufus R. Fimple of Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa, is shown as his representative in his period military service record in case of his death. Private Fimple died at Fort Craig, New Mexico Territory, July 15, 1863. He is incorrectly identified in the Civil War Roll of Honor as member of Co. I, 1st Colorado Volunteers.
