Janet Bostic Kesterson, 89, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Friday, December 3, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Forest City.

Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Henry William Mathis and Myrtle Hopper Mathis.

Janet was the widow of Samuel Louis Bostic and also widow of her second husband, Ervin "Doc" Kesterson.

She was a 1950 graduate of Harris High School, worked for many years as a seamstress for Doncaster Tanner Company, and was a member of Adaville Baptist Church. Janet loved to crochet, sew, and cook. In addition to her hobbies, she was the best mother anyone could have hoped for and loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a great grandson Asher Lee Splawn and sister, Sue Mathis Wall.

Survivors include her sons, Steve Bostic (Debbie) of Bostic, NC, and Scott Bostic (Sherrie) of Ellenboro, NC; grandchildren, Amy Bostic Saad (Ken), Aaron Scott Bostic (Carly), Allie Bostic (Jonathan), Brandy Bostic Hannon (Norman), and Steven Blake Bostic (Carrie); and great grandchildren, Braeden Bostic, Madeline Saad, Brittain Saad, Tucker Splawn, Grace Splawn, Kate Bostic, and Caroline Bostic. Janet was also awaiting the birth of a great grandchild, baby girl Hannon.

The funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, December 7, 2021 in the Padgett & King Chapel with Dr. Jeff Pate and Rev. Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Bostic.
