TEACHER IN CITY SCHOOLS DIES

Mrs. Gertrude Kuhn Arnett, teacher in Charleston schools for many years, died yesterday afternoon at a local hospital after an illness of six months. She resided at 4806 McCorkle avenue.

A sister of the late Howard Kuhn, she was born at Acme, Boone county, the daughter of the late S. C. and Leatha Hunter Kuhn.

She received her early education in Boone county schools, attended Morris Harvey college and received her degree from Marshall college.

Mrs. Arnett taught in Boone county and Malden schools, and Bigley, Chamberlain and Woodrow Wilson junior high schools, Charleston. She resigned her position at Woodrow Wilson just six weeks before the last school term ended, because of ill health.

She was a past matron of Salina Chapter No. 81, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of Charleston White Shrine No. 7, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; the White Shrine patrol degree team and St. Mark's church.

Mrs. Arnett had lived in Charleston approximately 30 years.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the residence with Rev. W. H. Walker and Rev. C. D. Taylor of Huntington, former pastor of St. Mark's church, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

The body will be removed at 10 a.m. today from the Bartlett mortuary to the home.

Members of the White Shrine patrol will be honorary pallbearers and active bearers will be M. R. Dodd, P. A. Loy, J. T. Reynolds, G. N. Griffin, J. H. Martin and Harry Adams.
