Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, August 26, 2011, at the Harlem United Methodist Church with the Dr. Robert J. Blankenship and the Dr. Tom Drake officiating. Interment will be in the Harlem Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Sullivan was born in Appling, Ga. to the late Carl B. Marshall and Ruth Crawford Marshall. She was a descendent of the Rev. Daniel Marshall, founder of Kiokee Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of Columbia County. Mrs. Sullivan was an Insurance Agent having worked in the insurance and banking industry and retired as City Clerk for the City of Harlem. She was a founding member of the Harlem Woman's Club and served as Cub Scout Den Mother as well as Sunday School Teacher. She was a devoted mother and a member of the Harlem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children Donald Marshall Sullivan, of Harlem, Harriss E. Sullivan, Jr. "Gene" and wife Sharon, of Evans and Gregory Paul Sullivan, Harlem. Grandchildren Ryan (Cameron) Sullivan, Paul (Jaimi) Sullivan and Meredith (Kyle) Tompkins; and six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Paul Marshall, Howard Marshall and Mary Marshall Corley and daughter-in-law Janie L. Sullivan.
Pallbearers will be Rev. Jerry McNutt, Dean Ragsdale, Russ Campbell, Bruce Whitfield and Terry Ellis. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Harlem Woman's Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harlem United Methodist Church, PO Box 39 , Harlem, GA 30814.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday evening at STARLING FUNERAL HOME, HWY 78, HARLEM, GA.
