Elizabeth "Beth" Stone, 94, of Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, Indiana, died at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center. She was born January 17, 1917 in Roanoke, Virginia to J. Alfred and Amy (Kuns) Flora.
Beth was a 1935 graduate of Madison High School, in Trotwood, Ohio, and received her Bachelor's Degree from Manchester College in 1939. She married Eugene H. "Gene" Stone in North Manchester on May 16, 1941; he died May 23, 2009. She was a longtime Manchester resident and lived several years in Hagerstown, Indiana. She taught junior high in Cambridge, Indiana 15 years. She was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren, and a former member of Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren. She was also a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association, and the History Club. Beth liked to read, write spiritual journals, and personal notes. She also enjoyed camping and back-packing. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by four children, Steve F. (Jane) Stone of Lexington, Kentucky, Rebecca (John) Flory of St. Paul, Minnesota, Christine (Michael) Elliott of Saranac, Michigan, and Carolyn (Steve) Wieseke of Greens Fork, Indiana; 9 Grandchildren, Galen P. (LeAnne) Stone of Lexington, Matthew (Melissa) Flory of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Jeffrey Flory of Washington D.C., Chad (Nicole) Elliott of Saranac, Brian Wieseke of Connersville, Indiana, Heidi (Eric) Dodson of Lexington, Suzanne Flory of St. Paul, Minnesota, Dene' (Ryan) Sweeney of Valley Center, Kansas, Julie (Alfredo) Tobias of Centerville, Indiana; 8 Great-Grandchildren, Lauren Dodson and Isaac Dodson, both of Lexington, Julia Christina Flory of St. Louis Park, Tyler Elliott, Addison Elliott, and Alivia Elliott, all of Saranac, Kade Sweeney of Valley Center, Kansas, and Sofia Tobias of Centerville. Beth was preceded in death by her brother, J. Alfred Flora, Jr., sister, Virginia Sellers, and a grandson Kevin Todd Wieseke.
Funeral services will be held at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 with Rev. Kurt Borgmann and Pastor Carol Pfeiffer officiating. Private burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17 at Timbercrest.
