"North Jackson-Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Andy Balog formerly from North Jackson who died Sunday evening. Andy was born December 2, 1922 in Youngstown the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Balog and was a life long area resident. Andy retired from the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company in 1984 after 32 years where he had worked as a crane man and head stocker. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, K of P Lodge in North Jackson, 3 C's of Warren and a WWII Navy Veteran. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Naomi (Kurtz) Balog whom he married September 14, 1946, sons Karl J. Balog and Andrew L. (Vickie) Balog both of Austintown, grandchildren; James, Karly, Alicia, Nicole and Andrew Victor. He is also survived by his sister Helen Pal and brother John Balog both of North Jackson and his grand-dog Lance. Andy was preceded in death by sisters; Betty Tipper, Jenny Bishop, Mary Vincent, brothers; Joseph, Charles, Peter and his twin brother Louis. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The Balog family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley."
