MONTPELIER - Ina Adams Stephens, age 73, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1991, from a prolonged illness.

She was born Oct. 19, 1918, to William George and Lucy Belle Bennett Adams in Meadow, Utah. She married Joe Batara, and they were later divorced. She marrried Wm. Myrle Stephens July 7, 1947, in Montpelier, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple in November 1968. He passws away Oct. 11, 1985.

They had worked together to establish the senior citizens' center in Montpelier. She was a member of the LDS Church, and held various positions during her lifetime. She was known as a good cook, and really enjoyed fixing meals for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, music and the outdoors.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Batara of Montpelier, and Rick Batara of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Merelynn) Hunzaker of Montpelier; four stepchildren, Daren Stephens of Alexndria, VA., James Stephens of Ogden, Utah, Fern Rogers of Ogden, Utah, and Belle Lewis of Evanston, Wyo.; also two sisters, Merinda Day of Fillmore, Utah, and Babe Horton of Hunter, Utah; one brother, Bill Adams of Fillmore, Utah; 20 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier State Center, where friends may call that morning from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery, under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
