EAST MOLINE -- Funeral services for Helen Mary Allen, formerly of East Moline, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Davenport Lutheran Home, Davenport.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Moline Gospel Assembly Church, Moline.
Helen Rook was born July 8, 1915, in Chicago, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Goodlander) Rook. She married Lester S. Northrop, Dec. 25, 1935. He died in 1944. She later married Wilson Lee Allen April 21, 1945, in the Minnesota Naval Air Station.
She had served as a Wave in the United States Navy during WorldWar II. She had worked as a telephone operator at the Savanna Depot, Savanna, Ill. She later worked for the Visiting Nurses, where she retired in 1983. She was member of the Moline Gospel Assembly Church, where she had been an active volunteer.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Elaina and Ric Velando, of LeClaire, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, James and Pattsy Allen, of Coal Valley, Ill; grandchildren, Dominic Velando, Aaron Allen, David Hamilton, and Cindy Pogue; great-grandchildren, Justin and Lauren Pogue, and Padme Hamilton; sister, Ruth Truex, of Plymouth, Ind.
She is preceded in death by her husbands and her parents.
