Richard Gail "Dick" Binns
Dick Binns, age 69, of Joplin, Mo., passed away, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Freeman Hospital, after a short illness.
Dick was an over-the-road, owner and operator truck driver for many years. But his No. 1 profession for his lifetime was a cowboy. He was a horse trader, trainer and shoer, a steer wrestler and a pick up man for the Binns and Omak Rodeo Companies in the 1970s. He was still riding horses up until a month before his death and broke two different horses in the last five years.
He will really be missed by family, friends and his devoted dog, Taco.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Binns; his mother and father, Art and Eve Binns; and his two older brothers, Leo and Bob Binns.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanoka Jenkins, Fordland, Mo., and Hiwannah Brown, Nixa, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Debbie Arnold, Joplin, and Jill Parmley, Sarcoxie, Mo.; two stepsons, Craig Binns, Carl Junction, Mo., and Ray Binns, Joplin; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Baxter Springs, Kan., at the First Baptist Church.
