U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Harvard University in 1904, from the law department of that university in 1907, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1908. He was a member of the Lowell City Government, in 1911 and school commissioner, in 1912. In 1913, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-third Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses and served until his death. During his terms in Congress, he also served as a Private with the 29th Training Battery, 10th Training Battalion, Field Artillery, 4th Central Officers’ Training School, U.S. Army, in 1918.
