Funeral services for Betsy (Smith) Rains, 40, will be held Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. Minister Buzz Brown of Jehovah's Witness will officiate. Burial will be in Anchorage Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the chapel.

She died Sunday (4-14-1974) at Alaska Native Medical Center. She was born June 29, 1933, in Haines and has lived in Anchorage most of her life.

She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Lucinda A. Compchos, Miss Jeanne L. Barnum, and Miss Pamela Rose A. Barnum, all of Kodiak; a son Harry D. Barnum III of Anchorage; her mother, Mrs. Anna Smith of Anchorage; two brothers, John Tompkins of Haines, and Bill Tompkins of Juneau; twin sisters, Mrs. Marie Grosvold of Seattle and Mrs. Dorothy Burford of Anchorage, and a grandchild, Tawsha Wilson.
