Excerpted from the 1955 Obituary of Charlotte (Sayles) Maynard:

Charlotte "Lottie" Irenia Sayles,
daughter of William and Irenia Sayles, was born April 19, 1879, in Union County, S.D. [then Dakota Territory], on their pioneer homestead. There she attended a rural school and was a student at the University of South Dakota for two years. On April 24, 1901, she married OTIS MAYNARD and they made their home on his farm located two and a half miles southeast of Westfield, Iowa, until the spring of 1908, when they moved to Richland Township, in South Dakota. To this union were born three children -- a son and two daughters, as follows:

Porter [Rueben] Maynard, Mrs. C.A. [Anita Maynard] Brady, of Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Price [Viola Maynard] Miller, of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

ANCESTRY: Charlotte (Sayles) Maynard is a direct descendant of Roger Williams (founder of Rhode Island), through Roger William's Daughter, Mary Williams, who married John Sayles.
