Silbernia died just two days before the passing of her mother, Lucy Ann Oglesby Redus. Another tragic event happened a year earlier. After the passing of her first husband, Tallifero Baugh Burnett, she married James Coats. They were married on March 15, 1855 and he died three weeks later on April 5, 1855. She bore James Coat's infant son, and both she and the child died in March 1856. She left five children without parents, the oldest being Tallifero Baugh Burnett, Jr. Aaron Redus took the orphans to live with him, but unfortunately he died two years later on July 18, 1858. Sibernia's sister, Mary Louise Redus, and her husband Major Milton Crawford, took the children into their home. Another sister Sarah Chaffin Redus Tanner also helped with the children. When Aaron Redus died in 1858, John Redus who had since moved to Medina County in Texas, returned to Aberdeen to help settle Aaron's estate. He took Silbernia's eleven year old son back to Texas with him. Tally later married Laura McLemore, a sister to Sallie McLemore, wife of his uncle John Redus. Another sister, Annie Kie McLemore, married John's brother, George Redus.
