According to page 62 of the Rhode Island Adjutant General's publication "Official register of Rhode Island officers and soldiers who served in the United States army and navy, from 1861 to 1866", Corporal Peck was wounded at the battle of Salem Heights in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, on May 3, 1863, and died from that wound on June 7, 1863.
