Born the daughter of Joseph Whitehead Hale (1814 – 1857) and Nancy Tigner Elder (1818 – 1899). She married 9 Sep 1858 to Edmond Eli Elder (1833 – 1909) and they were parents of Upshur Superintendent of Schools Burton Blanton "Burt" Elder (1869 – 1959). [Contributed by Ron Wade]
