U.S. Senator. Moving to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1903, he engaged in the newspaper business and became chief owner of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel. Entering politics, he was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Charles W. Waterman, serving September 1932 to December 1932. An unsuccessful candidate for election, he resumed newspaper activities until his death.
