Wilburn Jackson Sloan
DOERUN — Wilburn Jackson Sloan, 99, of Doerun, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Bridge Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder C.A. Blanton and Elder Emory Carlton officiating.

Burial will follow in Bridge Creek Cemetery.

Joey Sloan, Merlin Bragg, Scott Beasley, Donald Horne, Don Horne and Larry Abercrombie will serve as casketbearers.

Born June 2, 1907, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late John Felden Sloan and Linnie Louetta Allegood Sloan.

He was a retired farmer and was a member of Bridge Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Menda Esther Massey Sloan; four brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Irvin Sloan and wife Maxine of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dan Sloan and wife Linda of Thomasville; a daughter, Mary S. Beasley of Cordele, Ga.; six grandchildren, Sandra Brock, Scott Beasley, Pam Nelson, Melissa Breese, Robin Gaston and Regina Shunk; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 23, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
