Capt. John Rabb, died on Monday morning last, 2 o'clock, at his residence at the Banquete; aged 48; and was buried the day following. He was born in this State, and came to Nueces county to reside in 1859. During the Mexican war, he served under Gen. Taylor, U.S.A. For many years past, he has been one of the leading stockraisers of Western Texas. Through his indomitable energy, toil, and exposure; he became wealthy; winning wherever he resided; the confidence and respect of the people. Honorable and just in his transactions, and possessing that genial disposition and hospitality so common to native Texans, he leaves numerous friends who mourn his departure, in addition to his family and relatives. To the family, our warmest sympathies are extended. Peace be with him.
