Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM til 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Southern Funeral Home, in Winnfield, and again on Monday from 10:00 AM til time of service, at First Baptist Church in Calvin.
Jack served as a Deacon for 45 years at Calvin First Baptist Church and Laurel Heights Baptist Church. He was also a choir member. Jack retired in 1988 after 34 years with the Louisiana Power and Light Company.
Jack was an avid white perch fisherman and gardener. He loved the outdoors. Jack loved spending time with his family. He was a wonderful Christian example and a blessing to them. His children witnessed him reading and studying his Bible every night. He always knew the answers to their questions. His grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoyed listening to him share his life stories and his wisdom. Jack was a quiet man with strong morals and values. He was a very special dad and grandfather. His strong legacy will live on through his memory.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; Jesse and Pearl Shelton and great grandson Jack Dalton Mueller. Jack is survived by his wife Jeraline Canerday Shelton. Jack and Jeraline celebrated their 60th anniversary in April 2011. He is also survived by his two children; his son Rodney C. Shelton and his wife Penny of Winnfield, LA; his daughter Ginger S. Mueller of Winnfield, LA; one sister Mary Lou Boone and her husband Kerry of Shreveport, LA; one brother Joe Shelton and his wife Ann of Winnfield, LA; three grandchildren; Ashley S. Files and her husband Mark of Winnfield, LA; Landry L. Mueller of Winnfield, LA; Libbi M. Lashley and her husband T.J. of Winnfield, LA; five great grandchildren, Jake Roberts, Dane Files, Aaron Mueller, Katie Lashley and Morgan Lashley, all of Winnfield, LA.
