Charles Richard Corbitt, 70, of Palestine, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He had survived two by-pass surgeries and a heart attack, but succumbed to pulmonary fibrosis.He was born Feb. 1, 1935, the son of the late Charles Bradford and Carrie Sims Corbitt. He was a retired teamster from Carolina Freight, Associated Transport, DuPont and others. He was an Army veteran and a Christian member of the Two Runs Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping vacations. Lately he watched football, races of all kinds and played spider solitaire by the hours.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith Bain Corbitt; four sons, Ted (Bobbi), Timothy (Melanie), Todd (Susan) and Travis (Karen) Corbitt; special niece, Barbara (Bob) Pursley; adopted Donald (Angie), Angela (David) Fulmer, Melissa (Bryan) Lockhart and Joshua (Torie); grandchildren, Tara (Tim) Davis, Tonya (Matt) Hensz, Ted, Shannon (Matt) Knight, John E. Chase, Chelsea, Ashley, Dustin, Austin, Quentin, Samuel, Cody, Derek, Avery, Taylor, Zach, Phaidra, Dalya, and Tatiana; stepgreat-grandsons, Nicholas, Dakota, Zachary and Trevor; two sisters, Martha (Waldo) Allen and Donna Lou Lynch; constant companions, Molly and Pepper. He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by one daughter, Tonja; one son, Thomas; one sister, Betty Geraldine Stone; and one brother, Albert "Bob" Corbitt. Services will be 11 a.m. today, at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with the Revs Charles Leisure and Jim Corbitt officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery/Thorn Addition.
