Donald Hyder, a 13-year resident of Yucca Valley, died Nov. 21, 2004, in his home in Joshua Tree. He was 77 years old.
A Tennessee native, Mr. Hyder was born July 30, 1927, to Dewey L. Hyder and Lilly F. Hyder.
He lived in California for 59 years.
Mr. Hyder served as a ship's serviceman in the United States Navy, where he obtained his barber's license. After retiring from the service as a senior chief, Mr. Hyder was a barber for 30 years, working at Pallie and Don's Barber and Beauty Shop.
He was married to Pallie Ann Hyder for 21 years before she preceded him in death.
Mr. Hyder is survived by son and daughter-in-law Donald Jr. and Bonnie Hyder of Santee, daughter Linda Clark of Alpine, daughter Donna Lopez of El Cajon, daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Randy Swisher of Auburn, stepdaughter and son-in-law Sherry and Daniel D'Amgrosia of Santee, stepson Bobby Bean of Sandy, Utah, stepsons and daughters-in-law Eddie and Malou Bean of Murrieta, Richard and Deon Bean of East Lake Chula Vista and Jamie and Melinda Bean of Granbury, Texas, 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be private; Mr. Hyder was interred at 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at Fort Rosecrans.
