Kenneth L. Andres, 71, of Springfield died 12:25 a.m. Friday (March 5, 2004) in St. John's Hospice, Springfield.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, with the Rev. Gary Bass officiating and military rites conducted by the Inter Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Staab Funeral Home, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Hospice or Salvation Army.

Kenneth was born April 23, 1932, in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Theodore Kenneth and Helen Barden Andres.

He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War, where he served 15 months.

He was a lifelong member of United Methodist Church. He served on various committees of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Manufacturers Association, Edison Electric Institute and Midwest Gas Association. He served on the Junior Achievement Board for 20 years and was a former member of Oak Crest Country Club and the Sangamo Club.

He had been a Springfield resident since 1963. He was a teacher and director of public relations at Carthage College and was retired from CIPS in 1992 after 29 years of service, 24 of which he served as manager of public affairs.

He married Ann Huff in 1955. He later married Judy N. Heine in 1971.

Surviving are his wife, Judy of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Lisa Andres of Springfield; sons, Jay Geoffrey "Geoff" (Ellen) Andres and Jonathan Kelly "Kelly" (Sue) Andres, all of Springfield; five granddaughters; brother, Robert William "Bill" (Joann) Andres of Mattoon; seven nieces; six nephews; 10 great-nephews; six great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Charles Theodore Andres.
