Derrick Duane Garner, 41, of Oldenburg, passed away Saturday, June 18, at the Mike Combs residence of Rushville. Derrick was born in Dayton, Ohio, on August 13, 1969, the son of Deborah (Harding) of Arlington and Bruce Garner of Pennsylvania.

He was the husband of Janet L. (Wolferst) Garner. He was retired from AT&T Pipe Line Construction.

He is survived by his parents; his step-father, Walter Harding; his wife, Janet Garner; children, Tamara Mengehogt and Jai Hahn of Connersville, Gary Robertson of Rushville, Lisa Bowles of Laurel and Beyan and Rob Dunham of Oldenburg; sisters, Machell (Jerry) Robertson of Glenwood, Merinda (Chris) Deaton of Brookville, Lucretia (Kenny) Pursifull of Arlington, Nicole Harding of Rushville, Vania Erhman and a brother, Jared Garner, both of Pennsylvania; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Garner; paternal grandfather, Howard Garner; maternal grandparents, Catherine Bartels and Ralph Bartels; and step grandmother, Marie Harding.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 23, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 110 West Main Street, Milroy. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. William Springman officiating.
