Corey was a press operator at Continental Tire in Mount Vernon and he had been a member of the Du Quoin Fire Department since July 2010. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and the Coalbelt Fire Protection Association.
He was born Aug. 10, 1988, in Du Quoin, the son of Robert D. and Rosalyn (Short) Shaw.
Corey married Nichole Hoffner on May 30, 2009, in Du Quoin, and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; daughter, Camryn of Du Quoin; parents, Robert and Rosalyn Shaw of Du Quoin; sister, Megon and husband, Sgt. Joseph of the U.S. Marines in South Carolina; niece, of South Carolina; paternal grandmother, Esther and husband, Tom, of Du Quoin; paternal great-grandmother, Anna of Du Quoin; maternal grandmother, Marilyn of Du Quoin; maternal great-grandmother, Lois of Du Quoin; his mother-in-law, Lori of Pinckneyville; three brothers-in-law, Nick, Sage and Seth, all of Pinckneyville; Godmother, Robin and Godfather, Al and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His was preceded in death by son, Cayden Robert Shaw; paternal grandfather, Robert Shaw Sr.; paternal great-grandfather, Carl D. Shaw; and maternal great-grandfather, Amos Bowlin.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in Old Du Quoin Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Du Quoin Middle School on East Jackson Street in Du Quoin.
