Leonard D. Glover (08/05/1918 - 11/16/2010)
GLOVER, Leonard D.
Spokane Valley resident Leonard Day Glover passed quietly away November 16 with his loving daughter and son-in-law by his side. He was 92.
He was born in Newell, SD to Day L. and Katherine B. (Seitz) Glover on August 5, 1918. He joined the Navy in 1940 and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. After retiring from the Navy he went to work for the Dept. of Defense, which loaned him to the NASA space program where he became a Quality Assurance Representative. He received the "Snoopy Award", the highest honor given a civilian, for his work on the Apollo missions.
Leonard enjoyed traveling and visiting with his many friends and relatives. He lived a good life and passed with dignity.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Rose N. Stevens and brother-in-law, Francis F. Stevens.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, LuAnn and Ron Ragge; son Harvey; grandsons Will Redshaw, SSgt Matthew L. Glover (Ashley), and Christopher L. Glover; great-grandsons Peyton C. M. Glover and Brody Day Glover; nephews Bart (Diane)Stevens and Dr. Rick (Starr) Stevens; and many close cousins and dear friends, including Tony and Linda Tompkins, with whom we shared him as our elder, and who so graciously opened their hearts to him. He will also be missed by his "family" at Broadway Court Estates, where he lived for over six years.
Special thanks to the staff at Life Care Center of Post Falls for their excellent care of Leonard in his last days.
Per his adamant request there will be no service. His wish was that you raise a glass or two and share a laugh or two. "He's free".
