Helen Ruppert Silleck-Holleran was the wife of Frank Joseph Holleran and daughter of Amanda Elizabeth Ruppert-Silleck and Henry Garrison Silleck, Jr. of New York City. She had three children, Richard Paul Holleran, Romer Holleran and Glenna Holleran-Ottley (Mrs. Phillip Graham Ottley, Sr.) as well as six grandchildren. In the late 1930s and early 1940s, she was one of the leading golfers in the United States. Helen was the neice of Col. Jacob Ruppert, Jr., famous brewery magnate and owner of the New York Yankees baseball team. In 1939 at the age of 32, she inherited a portion of the Ruppert Estate and the baseball team. At her marriage she moved from the Upper East Side of Manhattan to Frank's Tudor City apartment in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan until ultimately settling in Greenwich, Connecticut for the remainder of her life. --- K.
