Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until January 16, 1946.

Allen served as a Quartermaster Second Class, PT-337, U.S.S. Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Twenty-Four, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Fairfield County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Navy on September 25, 1942 in New Haven, Connecticut.

Allen was declared "Missing In Action" when PT-337 was sunk by Japanese fire in the Pacific area during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
